Political Party Financing

Dr Michael Morgan and Prof Keith Ewing

Keith Ewing, a Professor of Public Law at King’s College London, delivered our inaugural Public Lecture on political party financing regimes in global perspective.

Date:  13 August 2008

Ewing is one of Britain’s leading experts on administrative and constitutional law, and a recognised international expert on financing law reform in politics. He is an advocate for greater transparency and accountability in electoral systems and for ending the “arms race” in campaign expenditure which has led parties in many countries towards a greater reliance on private donations.

Ewing was in Australia as a guest of the International Unit and the Chifley Research Centre to undertake consultations on political party financing regimes. His insights will contribute to the International Unit’s program of training for political parties in our region.
