Date: 15 March 2007
On 3 March 2006 the ALP National Executive appointed NSW Senator Michael Forshaw as ALP International Secretary. He succeeded the late Senator Peter Cook who sadly passed away in December 2005.
In September Senator Forshaw attended the UK Labour Party Annual Conference in Manchester, England along with a delegation of ALP officials and staff.
"The Conference was a huge event with the highlights being speeches by PM Tony Blair and former US President Bill Clinton. Our delegation also had a number of informative discussions with UK Ministers, Parliamentarians and Labour Party officials and advisers."
In November Senator Forshaw represented the ALP at the Socialist International (SI) Council meeting in Santiago, Chile. Over 300 delegates from 90 affiliated parties met to discuss important issues including Climate Change, Global Governance and Conflict Resolution. The ALP National Conference in Sydney in April will feature a number of special forums for international visitors from fraternal political parties.
